Signals & Pixels

January 2018 - July 2021

Trusted and high resolution camera micro device for power-aware systems.
Nowadays, a lot of applications in the IoT, automotive or aeronautic industries require high-quality, secure and power-efficient video acquisition. The purpose of the Trusteye project is to design a trusted and low power camera micro device.  Innovative JPEG XS-based low-latency lightweight and visually lossless video compression provides bandwidth and storage space reduction while enabling low-power operation. The quality of the video signal is further improved thanks to image stabilization by means of software-based and mechanical vibration reduction systems.
The compressed video signal integrity is guaranteed by state-of-the art ciphering and authentication techniques. Security is further ensured by anti-tampering SoC packaging. Targeted applications include low-power and real-time systems such as cameras in drones, road vehicles and body cam.
This collaborative project involves the PILAB and CRYPTO groups of ICTEAM at Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL), the
MICROSYS laboratory belonging to the Montefiore Institute of the University of Liege (ULiege) and the BEAMS department of the Brussels School of Engineering at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB). Trusteye is funded by the Walloon region (WALinnov program) and the intoPIX s.a. company.
