Paul Desbordes

Senior Researcher

Paul Desbordes received a Master’s degree in biomedical engineering and a PhD in computer science at the University of Rouen (France) in 2017.

These last years, he worked on different topics, all focused on medical image processing. During his master, he developed an automatic algorithm to segment lymphomas on TEP images based on cellular automata. Then, his thesis focused on the contribution of features extracted from medical images for the prediction of patients’ survival and treatment response in oncology. This concept, called Radiomics, leads to a personalized medicine for each patient and an early prediction for medical outcome. This project recquired knowledge of image processing, medical imaging, statistics and artificial intelligence.

Nowadays, he works at the Université catholique de Louvain as a senior researcher under the supervision of Pr. Benoit Macq (UCL) and funded by the region Wallone. His current research aims to design a deep learning architecture for computer vision applications, such as lung tumor detection and segmentation, outcome prediction …
